I grew up with this as our only potato slicer/ French fry maker (I'm 43 now.).I think my mom got over 25 years out of her first on before it finally cracked.She bought a second one about 10 years ago and it is still going strong.Yes, you have to put some weight on it to push the potatoes through, but it's just one big push and boom---sliced potatoes or French fries!
