I find myself buying all sorts of graters all the time, in my opinion the way I cut or grate any ingredient changes how it tastes even if in a minimal way. I have been using the Microplane to grate my parmesan but often found that I would end up cutting myself while grating, enough was enough and after remembering that Nigella has used this on her show I decided to give it a try. This little item is small enough that storage is never a problem and it looks so gosh darn cute. The handle is ergonomic and fits perfectly in my palm, the soft dry wood feels comforting (today's world has way too much plastic in it) and the thick metal plate attached for grating does a phenomenal job - and is very easy to wash, no hidden particles anywhere.Even the smallest piece of hard cheese can be turned into a fluffy snow like mound and it tastes delicious melting in the mouth. Depending on the size of the item I'm grating ( usually just Parmesan) I will most likely hold the cheese steady and rub the grater over it but it can be used in reverse as well. This also comes housed in the cutest little box with tissue, super for gift giving to anyone with a kitchen.
